I got connected this device to a cable modem.Works fine. Also it's powering all phone jacks in the house so I can use phone in any room.No problem whatsoever. Important thing if you do that to make sure to disconnect wire from outside phone company.
After much time with Tech support it was determined this product is not compatible for use with Vonage, so it was returned.
It is easy to use. Plug in and set it up from a PC. Ready to go. The sound quality is ok.
I purchased the PAP2T-NA from Amazon about 6 months ago specifically to try Call Centric's VoIP service. Before choosing I read a number of favorable reviews of Call Centric's phone service. Some of the reviews address issues of VoIP in general and suggest that entering this relatively new world is not for the technically challenged.Well, like everything else, it's a matter of degree. There were a number of issues involved in obtaining optimal results from the service but they were all quickly resolved with Call Centric's excellent technical help. You might have a good learning experience in the process. I now have the unit wired into my home's old phone system (easy to do) and it supports a total of 11 phones (wired and cordless) without difficulty. I connected it to my D-Link router and set it up without any problems. Mine is one more.
My bill is usually less than $5/mo. and that is mostly for my ported number and 911 service. If you want to try it, just go for it. The Linksys PAP2T works very well for me.
Watch out for some used units from sellers. Some sellers don't know the difference and dump their leftover VONAGE units. I got one and it was not a PAP2T but a PAP2 which was a leftover VONAGE unit that is programmed for VONAGE use only. PAP2T is user settable for various VOIP providers. I got a new PAP2T later from a online distributor and it worked fine.Keep that in mind if you want to try VONAGE. If you leave VONAGE your PAP2 will be a paperweight.
